Whenever my parents get to talk about fashion and trend of the teens today, they would never miss commenting on how pants evolved through the years. I could just imagine now how their eyes would glow whenever they talk about their past experiences. Hehe. :D They've told me that jeans were worn by farmers during those times... They also told me (many times) when jeans were not still "in" (I think these are pants with fabric such on slacks) they would really put "gaw-gaw" (starch) or as Filipinos would call "Zoy" (Zoy is a popular brand of starch) on their pants and iron it well so it'll look neat, shiny, and straight/stiff. My father would then add that, "Kung pwede lang, dili mi mulingkod para dili makum-ot ang pantalon" ("if possible, we would not sit down to avoid getting creases on the pants"). My dad just couldn't appreciate how the teens wear pants now a days. It's like teens don't care if their pants are ironed or not. Hehe. Most of the jeans today are stretchable, and it really doesn't matter if it is worn even when it isn't ironed. I even told our helper not to iron my jeans since stretchable pants would tend to stretch out from its good fit/size. Before, I am used to wearing stretchable slacks, and it is really comfortable. Also, I wear it because I am a big lady, and during that time, I just couldn't find any good jeans that fits right on me. It's either too tight on the butt, thighs, or hip area. It was just frustrating. Good thing I can find nice jeans now. Hehe. I'm also not picky in terms of the brand. As long as it fits good and looks good on me, I'll buy it! ^__^ Hmmm... Reminds me I need to shop for new jeans, they really look worn-out now. My hands getting itchy to go shopping but my pockets are empty. Hehe ^__^
